The music on this LP recalls the airy "Four Brothers" sound that tenor saxophonists Stan Getz, Zoot Sims and Herbie Steward, and baritone saxophonist Serge Charloff, plied in Woody Herman's band of For this outing, Steward and Charloff exit, and four become five with the addition of tenor luminaries Al Cohn, Brew Moore, and Allen asberoldrolrida.inmanmubanddurluaholtersbertiternigh.co set appropriately kicks off with Gerry Mulligan 8/

Stan Getz does not play on the second session from originally recorded for 10 inch LP. It's Zoot Sims tenor sax, Kai Winding trombone, Al Cohn tenor sax, George Wallington piano, Percy Heath bass, and Art Blakey on drums playing 4 tunes The Red Door, Zootcase, Tangerine and Morning Fun. I used to have the 10 inch LP/5(3).

John Haley "Zoot" Sims (October 29, – March 23, ) was an American jazz saxophonist, playing mainly tenor but also alto (and, later, soprano) saxophone. He first gained attention in the "Four Brothers" sax section of Woody Herman's big band, afterward enjoying a long solo career, often in partnership with fellow saxmen Gerry Mulligan and Al Cohn.

Jan 08,  · "A classic Prestige LP that compiles earlier sides by Getz -- four tunes from a session recorded under Stan Getz & His Four Brothers, with Zoot Sims, Al Cohn, Allen Eager, and Brew Moore -- all blowing with Getz in a real "brothers-like" sax section sound.
